What is your favorite video game, and what do you like best about it?

What I love most about World of Warcraft is its immersive world-building. The sheer depth of Azeroth—its rich lore, diverse landscapes, and unique factions—makes it feel like a living, breathing place.

A few things that stand out:

The Lore & Storytelling – From the tragic fall of Arthas to the epic battles against the Burning Legion, WoW has some of the best fantasy storytelling in gaming.

The Community – Whether it's the camaraderie of raiding with a guild, the thrill of PvP battles, or just running into random players who help you out, the social aspect is a huge part of what makes the game special.

The Exploration – There's nothing quite like discovering hidden secrets, stumbling upon old dungeons, or just admiring the beauty of places like Grizzly Hills or Suramar.
Class & Playstyle Variety – Each expansion shakes things up, but there's always a playstyle for everyone, whether you like healing, tanking, or dealing massive damage.

Haha, I had a roommate who was ADDICTED to WoW for the whole year I lived with him. Like I had to set my bedroom up like a living room, because I was like “there is NO WAY I can bring girls back here with my roommate fully immersed in a video game for 16 hours at a time in the common area”, lmao.

Never seen anything like it. Woke up around 10 AM, I’d hear him go in and out of the bathroom, stomp down the stairs, first thing he must’ve done was power up his computer, because in the middle of the cabinets banging as he got a bowl of cereal, I’d hear the “BOOP-BOOP” start-up noise, lmao. And then it was just WoW til like 3 AM, rinse, repeat. He block scheduled all his classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so he’d only get 12 hours on those days, haha, but the other 5 days, it was literally the only thing he did. He had a girlfriend at the beginning of the year, but she dumped him almost immediately, lmao, so he had this heartbroken period too, still playing, but it was like “bro…. you made her sit in a chair while you played a video game. What did you think was going to happen?”

He even moved to Texas the next year, in large part to be one time zone closer to this group he would raid dungeons with and shit, who were all on the West Coast, so he could get an extra hour or two. It was pretty wild, definitely an addiction. Actually, the last week we were there, I played a prank on him and told him they had to cut our electricity off a few days early, when he was planning a last binge before moving home to his mom’s for a while before heading to Texas. He LOST IT, lmfao, never seen him so upset in the close to thirty years I’ve known him now. It was so bad that I couldn’t bring myself to keep the ruse up, he was just too upset😂

That said…. from what I saw, it was a really elaborate game. Stuff with orcs and dragons and that sort of thing has never really been up my alley. But if it was, I probably would’ve been on it 16 hours a day too, haha. I was very impressed, especially in 2004, with whole world there was to explore, etc. Sometimes I’d watch over his shoulder, I definitely see the appeal for others. Our other mutual friend came to visit, and he’s more like me. We good-naturedly rib my other friend for being dorky, and we’d laugh when we’d ask if he wanted to come out to a party or bar, and he’d be like “oh, no thanks, guys, I’ve got a dungeon raid at like 12:30 tonight.”😂😂😂 One time we had been watching sports on TV, and after the game was like 60 Minutes or Dateline or one of those kind of shows. There was a thing about the new epidemic of kids being addicted to Warcraft, and there was a video of parents literally dragging their child away from the game kicking and screaming because it was bedtime on a school night. We were like “THAT’S SCOTT!!!”🤣🤣🤣

Meanwhile, I thought I was totally cool “only” playing like eight hours a day of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, lmfao. No, no…. its gang shit. It’s cooler, I swear😅😂

GTA San Andreas was basically my ticket to living my 14 year old self’s dream of being an LA gang member😂 Alternate title: “WhiteSteve Pretends To Be O-Dogg From Menace II Society From The Safety Of His College Apartment”, lmao.

Man, I spent SO MUCH time on that game. I was selling weed at the time, so my “day job” entailed sitting around and waiting for people to call me to come over. I’d wake up and go to the gym while everyone was at class, then I’d come home and hang out until it was time to go to my bouncer job at night. Like 2-7, GTA and smoking blunts, lmfao.

Same story, it was my WoW, I was blown away by the elaborate map you could explore. LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas, I guess “rural” California, and the desert. I made it out to LA maybe 8 years after that for the first time, and I legitimately felt like it wasn’t my first time there. Lost my mind when I passed that donut shop with the giant donut on the roof. “I know that place!”😂 Obviously everything was scaled down, it’s not street-for-street, but even the various neighborhoods, I could make the connection with the fake, altered name of the neighborhood in the game a lot of the time. But it was all so true to what I was prepared for: the bungalow style houses, all the little mini-plazas of stores, and just the general vibe of the city…. I was even more impressed once I had experienced LA for real. Only thing really conspicuously absent was Olvera Street. I still think about the tamales I got there🤤🤤🤤

I actually bought a PS5 as a gift to myself for Christmas, and I’ve probably played GTA: San Andreas the most, from the “Definitive Collection” game they put out. Wicked buggy, I guess, but I got it after some huge patch to fix a lot of it. Still not perfect, but I’m just so glad to play it again. I started trying to play GTA V Online, and I wasn’t immediately hooked. I’ll get back to it, but I had GTA V for XBox 360, and it was definitely really good, and probably technically “better”, being a later generation game…. but it still doesn’t quite hit like San Andreas. I’m just trying to bang for Grove Street, early 90s style, haha. I think that’s a big part of it too, I liked the aspect that it was set in the 90s instead of present day.

Another long one, lmao, that’s plenty out of me, but I guess San Andreas is it. Honorable mentions to Madden ‘04/‘05, NCAA Football ‘14 (bought College Football ‘25, haven’t dived in yet though…looks really good), NHLPA ‘93 (tons of fights if you adjust the rosters right), NHL ‘97 (everyone jocks NHL ‘94 but there were NO FIGHTS, rendering it a poor hockey game), Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out from NES, and the VERY legendary OG multiplayer first-person shooter, N64’s “Goldeneye 007”, or just “Bond”, as we called it. My freshman year of college in ‘97-‘98 was SO shaped by Bond. One of the most sweeping cultural phenomenons I’ve ever witnessed, at least on the college scene. Beatings administered if you tried to play using short-ass Odd Job, lmao. And I call “Siberian Special Forces.” Shout out to RCP-90s, the DK Deutsche, and laying Proximity Mines in The Facility. No screen-watching!🤨😂

Ah, I don't play video games at my age, and never have. I could just not sit there long enough and play on them. My girls and the boyfriend of one, have me play with them sometimes. There is a game that I don't even know the name for, where you pick an avatar (from the olden times it seems) and use your powers they come with to fight off the rest. I always lose and they laugh because I am so easy to beat. They are pretty good themselves. I know older folks who like them and are also good, but I play scrabble games is all, on my cell.

I played WoW from classic to Wrath mostly. Came back a few times but now I'm playing again and using the time walking to do old expansions (right now I've been doing Pandaria). Looking forward to player housing.

My favorite video game of all time though is either Mega Man 2 or Final Fantasy Tactics. Both kept me playing them over and over at different points of my life.

why? because as, a kid.. I liked to go at it for hours and hours, and hours to no end

it was just great for my OCD tendencies... hundreds if not thousands of steps, all down to "perfect" timing and position again, and again... and again

I have not played video games for a while. I used to spend hours playing this flight simulator game. It was so long ago that it was played on an MS-DOS operating system. You used it with a joystick and you flew one of a number of missions and would encounter Russian MIGs and other adversaries. I was still it the police equipment business and really had not taken a vacation in years so when I would encounter a 747 filled with tourists going on vacation i got a kick out of letting loose a sidewinder missile and blowing it out of the sky.

I love those those are games usually too.. Even though I've never played WoW.. I might one day.. But my favorite game is Red Dead Redemption 2.. The Devils did a great job on the game.. It's one of the few Open world games to feel like a there's a world outside the characters.. From random events that happen, to the story and all the characters acting accordingly to the changing environment.. I also love the characters from the main character of Arthur Morgan, to the more sadistic characters.. I was immensely impressed with the game when I first played it.. Everybody's waiting for GTA 6, but I really hope we get another Red Dead Game..

I play on my roblox account I play zombie shooting games on there or banana eats you have to hunt down the others. I prefer shooting zombies. I like that you can team up with people from World wide plus I can connect my gaming controller to my android it's a great experience

Red Dead Redemption 2 Literally the story and the gameplay is so rich and I love it. Made me emotional too in the end and struck a chord with me.

Witcher 3 because the story the depth of the Characters, the fact that many are very complex, and your relationship development is dependant on the way you interact with the characters, most games don't have that level of complexity. The Witcher universe is amazing. The fact that is origins are Poland make it very unique, very different ideas.

I liked a few back when I played. Frogger is a classic. Simplistic with a lot of memories. I liked echo the dolphin too as a stand-out. And GoldenEye held my gold star moment.

Was Heros & General's (was shut down over a year ago). Free to play, good playing style, and many options to choose from. Not many (if any) games where a infantry soldier can steal an enemy plane. Currently Civilization VI is my favorite.
