Which music artist/band do you think has the best music in their discography?

Is it something older like Elvis or The Beatles? Maybe someone a little newer like Kendrick Lamar or Taylor Swift? Maybe someone in between like Michael Jackson or Madonna? So, who do you pick as the person/band that has the best music in their career?

As a band give me the Beatles with Queen and the Police in the running. Fact is I'm a bass player and tend to think more in those terms when talking bodies of work. Even so McCartney is right up there still. His lines are often interesting and melodic in their own right, but there's also James Jamerson (most motown stuff) Lee Sklar (singer songwriters like James Taylor). Sting is right there too. Honorable mention to Flea of RHCP.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

All these bands have incredible catalogs, full of great songs, even many that were never released as singles, and all had many highly rated albums spread across decades. They all still get radio airplay today.

There are countless vocalists, song writers and bands who were/are amazing.

For this question, I'll limit my choices bands who wrote their own songs, did their own instrumentation and arrangements, and were mind blowingly creative, diverse, and greatly impacted the world of music forever.

Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin are at the top.

This is tough, it's so subjective and relative to your age sometimes! I guess for me, I have eclectic musical taste, however, I am based in Rock, alternative, classic rock. So, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Peal Jam, Collective soul, Weezer, Nirvana, etc. Can't decide there are too many, it depends on my mood. However, I was just listening to Madonna, "The power of Goodbye"
