What's a movie you really wanted to like but just didn't?

For me, it's Pulp Fiction.

Everyone always says how good it is and while there are some shocking scenes and memorable quotes, I found it underwhelming.

Live action Snow white and the little mermaid. I think its because I've grown up and in my mind they will always be those cartoon movies. Basically those movies are for kids not me. Even live beauty and the beast as well as Cinderella, the only bits I like in those movies were the ball gown dress and dance scenes. I confess to watching those scenes again and again and again.

I thought it was a very good movie... until the ending.

I found The Exorcist to be unpleasant. I know it is highly regarded, but it didn't work for me.

I totally get where you're coming from! For me, it's "La La Land." As a fan of film and music, I was excited about its buzz and homage to classic musicals. While it visually dazzles with great performances, it felt somewhat predictable and lacked the emotional depth I was hoping for. Dancing in the stars, but not in my heart. 💫

The closest i can approximate based on how you phrased the question would be “The Big Lebowski”.
I luv it now, but i had to watch it multiple times before i really developed an appreciation for it. A friend of mine highly recommended it and was beside himself when i told him i didn’t like it.

Then DVD Came out and I did the same.
Thing, I probably have probably 300. Or more movies on those and I might have watched one. I always figure one of these days. I'll do the major marathon for a year lol

@Simslover92 I agree with you. I saw it but don't know what was supposed to be so good about it... John Travolta was the 'draw" I guess, Maybe the shock value of the 'rape - sodomizing of the black guy by the freaks? Bruce Willis winning the boxing match and then running for his life.

"Leaving Los Vegas" was supposed to be good and it REALLY SUCKED !

Travolta was not a draw. His career after Saturday Night Fever and Grease was essentially dead. I think the movie would have been stronger without the sodomisation, but Tarantino is as Tarantino does.

Casino Royale. I even went as far as to buy the DVD. I only watched it all the way through like once. Everyone talks about how it's the "perfect Bond film", and while I thought the locations and action scenes were good (although some of them didn't really feel like Bond), I thought everything in between was so dull and boring. I simply couldn't.

I always want to like a movie and I generally do. Recently I wanted to enjoy Black Widow but it was the dumbest movie I've ever seen. Nothing in it made any sense. It was like they just filmed a bunch of random scenes without any script and then just threw them together.

You know what else sucked? there was a remake of The Prisoner. It starred Jim Caviezel. The sets were huts and the stories were boring. It was really disappointing since the original was such a classic.

I remember that I really wanted to like Black Panther, but I also found the movie to be pretty damn underwhelming.. I finally accepted that is wasn't this great movie people tried to make it out to be.. And I didn't even see the second one..

@exitseven I made it through the first Dune movie and give it a 3/10. I've tried the second movie and just cannot bring myself to watch more than 15 minutes
