Hmmm then I suppose it depends on how teachers present the topic, I mean, we can teach symbols through music without digging the entire Hippie era. But then I would probably see it as non-history related. It could be just analysis exercise made for English classes. It was customary, during high school times, for me, to be presented with some artworks to analyse, any artwork.
