Did you ever play with Lego as a kid?

Maybe you still do now? There's nothing wrong with it, honestly. Both my son and my boyfriend enjoy building them, both building sets (my boyfriend especially loves Marvel themed ones) and using loose bricks, which we have several tubs of.

So how about you? Did you ever enjoy playing with Lego?

Yeah, Lego has been a classic toy for several generations of kids at this point. It was the inspiration for Minecraft (virtual Lego's).

I think it's the perfect toy for a child's mind. No limits. They can experiment and make whatever their minds can dream up. Then rip it apart and build something else. Over and over again. It teaches them mechanics and structure. What works and what doesn't

Toss a box of Legos in front of adults and they'll start messing with them without thinking.

Absolutely, Legos were my childhood! Building everything from spaceships to weird hybrid creatures. Still love the creativity and focus it brings. 🧱✨😄

No. I didn't like Legos; they were worthless.

Mattel had a much better alternative that they no longer make: TOG'Ls.

I had Lego blocks as a kid, loads of them. I also had an electric train set, with many different locomotives, wagons and signals. It was great to combine both.

My daughter played with Lego Girls sets when she was younger. So I got my Lego blocks out, which my parents somehow kept. We built stuff together. It's now a generation thing within the family.

Nothing wrong with all the current theme sets, like Marvel or car sets. We didn't have those back in the 80s (or I completely missed out on those).

Not really. I was a carpenter's son. I learned to build real houses as a kid, which is a good thing, since our house burned down when I was 8 years old and we had to rebuild it as a family. I still remember packing every stud and 2x6 in the house. I packed and my older brother and father did the nailing.

Kids these days need to learn to work for a living instead of playing too many video games and having an AI to do their homework for them.

as a kid i was not controlled by my parents so i had to learn things the hard way. yes i played with Lego as a kid and i enjoyed it

I did from 3 or 4 to my teenage years. I got back into building as an adult as I find it very therapeutic.

Of course, who didn't. I started with Lincoln logs and moved onto Legos. My kids built with Legos and K'nex.

I did, but not a lot. Legos were entirely different then - like much more basic.

Yes, mainly just blocks in different sizes and colours. Slanted blocks to make roof tops were about as sophisticated as you could get. No characters like in the Lego Girls sets. I enjoyed the more technical stuff with shafts and dented wheels to get things moving.

I don't remember slanted blocks. I only remember rectangle with 8, 4 or 2 knobby things.

Those were for the walls of a building. You had doors that could open, windows to place inside your walls etc. The slanted pieces were basically the same size, but slanted on one side, even smaller blocks to shape the corners of your rooftops. Maybe I just got lucky that my parents invested in a product that they believed was good for one's imagination.

It does create a bond with kids and (hopefullly for me one day) grandchildren. It's great to see them build things according to the way they view the world. They will come up with solutions you never even thought of.

They weren't exactly cheap, so maybe not in stock in most ordinary stores? When I was a kid, you had to get them in specialized toy stores, not available in a supermarket like you have them now.
