In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire why did they go through absolutely all that time and trouble and effort to make sure Harry won the contest just so he could touch the Triwizard cup which turned out to be a portkey? Why didn't they just make the portkey be something much easier for Harry to touch in the first place? Like his boots? 🤷‍♀️

Wasn't the goblet already a Portkey, and Barty Crouch Jr. just changed the destination?
It was supposed to port them out of the maze once they reached the goblet.
Also, porting inside Hogwarts was not possible, so it needed to be something outside Hogwarts.
