What are your thoughts on the latest "Avatar: Fire and Ash" movie?

We saw it on the day it opened. I thought the story was a bit all over the place with, what we would say if the movie was actually filmed. "a lot on the editing room floor". But, the film was incredibly long anyway, so perhaps that was better. However, Oona Chaplin as the new villain Varang was mesmerizing. She should have gotten a Golden Globe nomination. I hope she at least gets an Academy Award nomination. The motion capture technology or at least its implementation has gotten considerably better and you can see it in the way she subtly emotes. I was fascinated by the quality and level of effort. I'd consider seeing it again.

As most of the newer generation of movies, great special effects, lack luster story line and script.

Movies just seem to be carried on the back of the effects now. Look at how titles such as star trek, star wars, and marvel have all degraded in character development, storytelling, direction and overall entertainment value.

This is nothing more than a rehash of cowboys and Indians with better visuals. True innovation in filmmaking and original stories are fast becoming a thing of the past while they use a standard template and just reprint the exact same themes with different visuals.

Haven't seen it yet. I watched the first 2 in the cinema but they're stretching the story too much. It was supposed to be a trilogy and now it's like 5 movies so they had to make 2 filler movies before the plot actually moves forwards. I'm not gonna watch this one. But I'm sure it'll make a lot of money.

I liked it. The definitely stepped up the visuals from the 1st one. My biggest complaints was that, for being titled Fire and Ash and using the new clan in the promotional material, we hardly got to spend much time learning about them. Whole movie was effectively Way of Water, but bigger.

I loved the visuals. It needed a more focussed story.

The first one was kind of OK, now the characters just seem like low IQ inbred high school football players from some hick town. Typically stone age people are depicted as having a sort of undercurrent of wisdom at least. These people just come off as dumb somehow. The human invaders could have gotten all the wealth of their planet if they would have traded them these for it.

Haven't seen it. I saw the first one, I think the main appeal was the the special effects that were novel at the time. The story was pretty bland. Now that good CGI is everywhere I have no desire to see avatar 2

I gave up on “Avatar”. They’re just repeating the same story with mildly different scenery. I’m not sitting around for five and half hours to watch Cameron jerk himself off vicariously.
