I mean, lets face it. many blame Netflix for the movie goers not going to the movies anymore, but in my opinion, the $20 admission, $25 popcorn, $9 KitKats, and $9 sodas must have had something to do with it

I still enjoy going to the movies, especially for new releases or films with stunning visuals that deserve the big screen experience. The ambiance and shared experience of watching a film in a theater can't be replicated at home. Yet, I do understand the appeal of streaming services like Netflix, with their convenience and affordability. 🎬🍿

The cost isn't why I don't go, it's the abysmal content. DEI completely destroyed the movie business - the actors, the writers (especially the writers), the directors, and the producers. Instead of hiring based on merit and casting based on common sense, you've got women leading armies and special forces teams and black vikings and black medieval European royalty, and did I mention all of the "historical" gay and especially trans people?

But it's the god-awful writing that is worst of all. To no surprise, the DEI hires don't care about telling good stories, they care about pushing The Message.

I saw John Wick 4 twice and Top Gun Maverick 3 times in the theater, but most new movies are crap and I don't watch them on Netflix either. I mostly watch catalog movies when most of Hollywood cared about the quality of the production (there were always a few who didn't, but those have mostly faded with time.

I have not been to the theater since before Covid. I have a nice home theater setup and it has spoiled me. Maybe this summer I will check out the new theater that was built in my town.

Honestly, easier to wait a bit for it to get to Apple TV. They get on the platform so quick anymore. I just usually don’t have the time to do the whole theater thing. Easier to wait and watch, sometimes in pieces, at home or school.
