What movie did you like better?

Howard Hawks directed both of these movies. They are two old classics that really were the same movie.

El Dorado Starred John Wayne as a gunfighter, Robert Mitchum as a drunk sheriff, James Caan as the young guy named Mississippi, and Charlene Holt as the hot girlfriend. Arthur Hunnicutt plays the crusty old guy that works for the sheriff. The sheriff locks up the local bad guy and has to deal with his hired guns that are tryin to break him out of jail

Rio Bravo starred John Wayne as the sheriff, Dean Martin played a drunk deputy, Ricky Nelson plays a young guy named Colorado, and Angie Dickenson plays the hot girlfriend, Walter Brennan plays the crusty old guy who works for the sheriff. The sheriff locks up the local bad guy's brother and has to deal with the local bad guy's hired guns to break him out of jail

They sure don't make movies like this anymore.

I don't really remember seeing those movies though I probably did in my childhood. I must prefer the case of Rio Bravo. When she was in her prime, Angie Dickinson could set a bed on fire just by looking at it.

I don't remember El Dorado, although I probably saw it as a kid. Rio Bravo I do remember, it was okay. Of course I'd prefer Robert Mitchum to Dean Martin any day of the week.

Rio Bravo was more entertaining.

Today, few movies are made to entertain. Almost all of them have some political or societal message embedded in them.

When I watch a movie, I want to be entertained. 😐

Rio Bravo. Love the song, My rifle, pony, and me. Ricky Nelson was very good in that as well as Walter and Angie.

I liked Mitchum and Bull but the movie didn't have the same cozy feeling or not as much of the spirit Bravo has.
