Sure though we play we modified house rules like taxes (like luxury tax and houses/hotel fees on the chance cards) and jail fees go to the center of the board. Anyone who lands on Free Parking gets to collect the funds that are in there. We also start the pile with a 1 dollar monopoly money and then for each time its collected we move it up a denomination until we reach the 500 dollar one. This helps those that are hurting for cash (generally the kids) have a chance catch up or those winning really dominate and end the game earlier.

Yep. Just whenever we feel like it. Maybe takes a week or so because we have different schedules and then other things to do.

I haven't played Monopoly in years. Back when I was much younger, a bunch of us occasionally got together and played Monopoly. Though we usually gave up after 4-5 hours of playing, occasionally one player would force bankruptcy on everyone else.

I remember one game that we played every night for 3 consecutive days, about 12 hours in total, before we finally declared the person with the most assets the winner.

People do finish Monopoly, but it’s rare because the game is brutally long and kind of designed to drag 😅

I’ve finished a few games, usually with house rules removed and strict trading so it doesn’t stall. Most “real” games I’ve seen end in a soft rage quit: someone clearly wins, the others are broke or bored, and everyone just agrees to stop 😂

I plyeda lot of Monopoly as a kid. One summer we put two Monopoly games together in a figure 8 and had it set up on out dining room table. We kept that game gong all summer but before we had to go back to school we did have a winner.
