I'd say progressive rock slightly beats out classical music, but not by much. With classical music you had an ensemble of 15 to 20 players minimum. Progressive rock you have 3 to 8 players. Spock's Beard, Porcupine Tree, and Rush all have good examples of rich, complex music.
Which type of Indian Classical Music?
Karnatic/Carnatic or Hindustanti?
God, I miss Keith Emerson. He's been dead over 10 years now.

Of course, the best organ solo in rock and roll history belongs to Rod Argent...

You might like Yes then.
For instance, Starship Trooper. The last part of Starship Trooper is Wรผrm which is pretty amazing.
Rick Wakeman's organ work is amazing. (It was Rick Wakeman who said Rod Argent's solo was even better than anything he did.)

I was lucky in that I saw Yes on 12 JAN 1979. Starship Troopers was the 2nd to last song and the bass was so loud and low that you felt the sound dance over your body more than you heard the song.
This is just Wรผrm.

But this is the whole song. Listen with headphones with your eyes closed or the room darkened as those low bass notes take over...

I can only speak for myself but to me, classical music is the most complex music genre ever to have existed.
If you take a complex classical music partition like this one

where more than 20 different music instruments are being played, practically simultaneously and that produce a harmonious piece of music, I personally believe that there are not many other music genres that would come close to that.
Correct me if I am wrong because I am not very good with hard rock or metal and perhaps there is more complex music than classical.
Complex to hear, probably certain types of jazz.
Complex to play, some classical music. But I do attend a lot of classical concerts, so it's the easiest to listen to.
Classical just sounds like it would be hard especially because a lot of it is so old we have no idea what tempo it's supposed to be played at. We just kind of guess?
Technical Death Metal. Sometimes they seem to make the songs as hard to play as humanly possible. It's also really hard to dance to.

I have to say straight up classical because of the number of instruments involved.
certain niche genres of rock & metal
