Do you still go to the movie theater to watch movies?

I rarely do. We rent out a theater room for our kids in their birthdays and let then watch a movie with their friends. Sometimes my boyfriend and I will go when we are on a date or there is a movie we both want to see. Mostly though we just watch movies at home on Fandango where we have about 750-800 movies paid for on there.
For sure.
I think now more than before COVID tbh
I have if I wanna get out of the house, but I think I will stop now, as they now show these movies on TV like 3 weeks after they're done playing in the theaters. Plus they're so expensive. Only ones I might go see is Indiana Jones and James Bond
very very rarely... mostly, when the parents want a break... so I take the little ones to the movies, lol
I still love going to the theater 🎬✨
Watching a film on a huge screen with great sound, especially festival films or big visual movies, feels completely different from streaming at home. I usually go for premieres, Oscar contenders, or artsy foreign films. But I’m picky now, so for average movies I wait and watch them on streaming in comfy clothes 😄🍿

Not as much as I used to; I used to have the rewards pass and whatnot. Me and my college friends would be there weekly. Then I moved but I used to go maybe once every other week pre-2020. I always take my family to any new Marvel or like more lighthearted movies. I’ll usually go see a good horror or indie movie by myself. I don’t really care for streaming a movie if it’s the first time I’m seeing it. I like going by myself so I don’t have to answer a lot of questions or criticism for my choice in movie.
The last time I went to a cinema to watch a film was in 1997 to see ‘Volcano’ staring Tommy Lee Jones, Anne Heche, Gaby Hoffmann, Don Cheadle.
I have not been to any since because there is no longer a cinema in my town centre, and it just costs too damn much, for the ticket (once you saw two films-a short and the main feature, now you only get the main feature, and the length of those have shrunk), the transport to/from etc.
What was once a cheap night out has now become a major outlay, which is not worth the expense when you consider that six months down the line you could have a ‘movie night’ at home, watch the same film in the comfort of your own home with probably better acoustics, and all the snacks you could need.
I am not saying that I will never go back ot the theater but the costs of tickets and the quality of movies today have made it hard to justify the expense.
When I was a teenager, Jerry Lewis had a chain of theaters that charged 99 cents. There was one near me. Unfortunately they didn't last long and went bankrupt! The key was they were supposed to be "automated" so that it only took two employees to run the theater.
@RingOfFire yes I saw Jeremiah Johnson at the Jerry Lewis theater
🤣🤣🤣
Coincidently I remember where I was when I saw that movie back in the 70s. I saw it on TV while in NJ visiting the family of a girl I was dating when I lived in AZ. She was in college there and asked me if I wanted to go with her to visit them. My family lived in the northeast so we also went to visit them while we were there. Ahhh memories!
I haven't in over a year. I'll only go if there's a movie that I'm very interested in watching.
100 % it's just a vastly different commitment , you need to watch the movie not be moving around , I attend as often as I can...
Yes! We just watched Michael in a movie theater last week. The theater was full, not a single empty seat.
Yes. Last movie was Hokum a week ago or so. We liked it. But Odyssey will be a no for us. It is an obnoxious attempt to meet Oscar qualifications and destroys our cultural history.
Trailer for it.

Sure, place near is a luxury cinema
I can get a great burger and a couple of bourbon & Cokes whilst watching a film
I haven't been to the cinema in 15 years. Does anyone over 25 go to the movies?
Rarely. Around here one movie theater actually closed up for a while. The owner stated that were not any good movies out worth presenting.
Now I try to go to the movie theater often to watch movies
even alone
it’s fun
Yes, but the theaters i go to usually have individual booths.
Not really. It's a rip off. Tickets are outrageous and so are the concessions.
Generally, yes, but it has been a while.
not usually. i might see one every year?
It is more of a special event now.
@rapfan107 yes often
Rarely. They have gotten expensive
Very rarely, maybe once every couple of years
Yes, of course that’s the best way.
I haven't been since the covid pandemics.
Depends if there's any good movies playing
