Do you ever wake up with a song in your head?

This morning I woke up and I could hear the lyrics of a song.

Not every day but very often. And they come straight out of the blue. They could be a jingle from a commercial I remember from childhood, the theme from an old cartoon or TV show, or part of a melody and lyrics I haven't heard for decades. I can hear them in my head but usually don't know all the lyrics.
Of course, sometimes they are songs that I know well or have heard recently.

My thing is to walk into the kitchen after I'm up and say to my wife "Do you want to hear the song of the day?" She's used to it and sometimes rolls her eyes when she replies "What?"

She sometimes can't recognize the song at all. Sometimes she thinks I am mentally disturbed. Sometimes she says "Yeah, I remember that." And sometimes it's something she really likes.

My most recent one a couple days ago was a song that she loves and we have sung together before but not for a long time.
This time, she started singing along. We were dancing around, stopping to tap our hands on our chests during the heartbeat part, and they break out into song and dance again. We sang it over and over and hugged and laughed.

I wake up with boogers in my nose, wax in my ears, confusion in my mind, and a full bladder. But there's never any music. Thankfully the coffee is ready and waiting by the time I trip and fall down the stairs. Then the world slowly comes into focus again. Gotta love drip coffee makers with timers on them.

There are some mornings when my husband wakes up way ahead of me and is already blasting music loudly downstairs.  It's often annoying but I end up with that last song I remember playing in my head.

one summer… somewhere in Europe I had a song stuck in my head for weeks… my poor family had to deal with me “singing” that song … once more? By the carpenters? Don’t remember ….

Sometimes it’s a song I listened to days ago, sometimes something totally random from childhood. Our brains kind of hit “repeat” while we sleep and it pops up the moment we wake. That track you linked has such a dreamy vibe, it totally makes sense as a “morning brain radio” song 😄

Sure. Most often it's a bass figure I've been trying to work out the kinks on, get all the fingering attacks perfect, the dynamics to keep it in context with the song. Pain in the ass to be meticulous at times
