I've started rewatching new girl recently and I used to love this show as a teenager. I thought i really related to Jess and she was super funny and quirky.

Now watching it back as a 28 year old I find Jess super annoying, immature and self centred. If she was a real woman in the real world shed had got smacked up by someone or most people would assume she had some kind of neurological disorder.

I probably felt like I related to her as a young teenage girl because I was a teenage girl this women is playing a grown adult.

I can think of other show characters like Rory from Gilmore Girls she's probably most famously hated now but Is there any other tv characters you can think of yourself who haven't aged well or over time you grew to find annoying

This is a very good question and, honestly, as I type, I can't think of any at the moment. Likely, a character that I thought was unbearable now is one I thought so when the show came out.

That said, I will say that there was a show that I EXPECTED I would love, but because most of the characters were obnoxious assholes of the type I knew in college, I immediately ceased watching it. That show, on CBS for 4 season, was Scorpion.

The "normal" characters of Cabe Gallo and Paige Dineen were OK. The Walter O'Brien character was marginally OK.

The others were just smug and obnoxious. Like Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory but without any funny or redeeming qualities.

I should have like this show, but I couldn't overcome this. I've had to face a lot of my life dealing with assholes that the last thing I want to do is waste my free time watching more assholes be assholes.

When I was very young in the 1960s, I'd watch two shows...

The first was Kimba the White Lion which was a Japanese anime show that Disney ripped-off to create The Lion King. My mother said this was my favorite show. I finally saw some clips of it within the past decade and I realized that I don't like a lot of lead characters from Japanese anime shows. So, yeah, Kimba is out now.

The other was Gumby from the various Gumby and Pokey shows. My parents got me rubbery Gumby and Pokey toys to play with, so they must've known of my often watching this show. What they didn't know was thatI watched Gumby with a fascination because the "physics of Gumby" did not exist in the real world. It disturbed me greatly. I watched the show with a bit of horror so I am not sure I loved the show, but I did watch it often. As an adult, I realize that Gumby was a bit obnoxious and I hated the Blockheads who often appeared since the beginning. I got a degree in Physics 41 years ago partly so I could unravel crazy shit like on Gumby and decide things for myself because I realized that adults were often bullshit artists or didn't know the answers.

I loved The Bear in the first season (which I call The Restaurant), but then the actors and actresses got full of themselves and it showed in their performances and I couldn't stand it after that. I check every once in awhile and it's still unwatchable.

That is a good 95% of every character from every TV show ever created. I see very little reason to ever watch TV. I was 12 years old before I ever bothered to turn one on to watch something.
