You gotta come to night clubs in Japan. There are lots of girls who can twerk upside down with very round butts. But for normal population, I agree. Japan is more about fresh foods everyday (no automobiles, bicycle and lots of walking every day and buy grocery on a daily basis) than going to gym and doing squats.

Actually Asians carry more body fat at the same BMI than Westerns, so 23 BMI is considered overweight by Japanese standards, but not due to the harsher standard. Once average Japanese girl gets over 23, her body fat might be over 27% and put her at risk of type-2 and heart disease even if she looks "skinny" by Western standard, while average Western at that weight might be 23%. Asians don't have much muscle or bone density, on average, given their lifestyle and possibly genetics.
