I want to know how I would go about talking to her, like how would I text a girl I don't even know with a chance she'll actually start to like me? I'm not too good with girls in the first place, though I've had girlfriends in the past but now its different since I'm not young anymore.

hahaha, "I'm not young anymore" and you are under 18... sry, funny things aside. Just text her. Write that you got the number from a friend, and don't forget to write your name at the end. And for the not being good with girls-part, try to think of her as a dude. One of your best friends. (Just skip the girls-talk you guys might be doing). It usually works.

Says you're under 18. You're still young. It gets different at early 20's+. If you're friend gave you her number without her knowing, you're going to have to be pretty creative to avoid weirding her out. Unless you know she's interested, of course.

Give her a clever, original reason for obtaining her number like "Sorry! I thought you were this Ashley! Not that Ashley!" (That's a bad example because it's on the spot but still). The worst part is getting her to be comfortable with the fact that you've obtained her number from a third party. After that, if you play your cards right, it should be easy. It's the same at 19 too since you can still date high school seniors :P

I know what age you're talking about but as long as you're able to date high school girls, it's considered easy. After that, you're transportation, living situation, school situation, income and so on become a factor.
