Do teachers and school staff really think doing this old trick gets you new friends?

My former assistant principal really thought that threatening students that fought with a suspension unless they make peace with each other and shake hands would make them friends. LOL

I had an issue with a female bully once. I hit her back (punch, not slap) and both of us were going to get suspended unless we apologized. The bully cried crocodile tears and apologized. I simply said it wouldn't happen again as my way of making peace. Did we become friends? LOL NEVER. She hated me but just left me alone afterwards.

A forced handshake isn't going to make someone like you, much less if it's not coming from the person but from someone else threatening with a punishment.

Never worked here, but they have camera's and resource officer in schools. So whoever starts a fight, gets arrested. If someone started a fight, they would be suspended first time, next time they were expelled.

That whole make peace or else, never works.

I know right. There should be no second chances. It just sucks that if you fight back against a bully (esp if you were hit twice and they're trying to go for a 3rd hit) and pinned them down, you get suspended too... just for fighting back.

Not here you an fight back and not get suspended but the key is, just defend yourself. If you fight back and beat the crap out of them, then you get suspended too. They do that, cause some guys would try to get others to start a fight, harass them and so forth, then soon as the other person started it they would send them to the hospital.

Minimum force needed to defend yourself, sort of like the real world.
