A friend of mine and I were talking about how her father always complains about her and her siblings not spending time with him or telling him the minor things happening with their lives.
She says that growing up their dad never sat down with them and asked them about their day or even played with them even if he spent the whole day with them at home. She says everytime they wanted to tell him about an "exciting" discovery he would just tell them to "go tell mommy" and give them a couple of notes (money).
Mind you their dad worked a normal 9-5 office job and their mom was a nurse so she had a job too. My friend and her siblings only went to their dad when money was required and talked to their mom about anything really.
I personally low-key blame their dad for making himself a walking ATM, he basically taught them to not view him as someone who's emotionally present for them.
