Way, way back like pre 1920s women weren't judged by their face at all. It was all about their character and all of them had fit bodies. This family is just a relic of those times, I'd guess. Now many women use tons of makeup, distracting haircuts and surgery to look different.

I'm not saying there weren't women with 'hot' facial features in the past.. just saying it wasn't a big deal until the mass media came along.

But what do they look like when standing next to average sized men. If they're smaller, as in average size for female (especially head size) then it's not that big of a deal, I'd say. If they have man sized heads & hands.. that'd be odd.

Hands and heads, yes the proportions are masculine. Overall height is smaller because they take estrogen and it stunts growth. Though when I look at the, the higher up the pyramid the less therapy they likely do.

@hahahmm I found some pictures from my hometown's yearbook in 1928. These are country girls, about as country as you can get, and not considered the dressing-up cosmo type. And even they look like women.

@bean2k21 I'm not saying that all women looked fugly faced back then. Just that it wasn't valued like today. Also 1928 is well into the mass media period anyhow. If you look at Miss America contestants from early 1900s half of them had fug faces by today's standards but 100% had fit bodies.

@guy__ Food quality was much better but also everybody was getting exercise. Even when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s it was the norm for people to get tons of exercise so fat people were super rare. PLUS fat shaming was perfectly fine & normal. If you want to be lazy and fat you were considered anti-social and disgusting. This kept a lid on a lot of self-centered behavior that is epidemic today.
