Where is your family from?

I live in the US but my dad is from Syria. He moved here when he was 3 years old and his dad was from Syria to. I didn't know much about my paternal grandma because she died shortly before my dad came to he US but I recently found out that she was born in Iraq and was an Assyrian (and boy do people get confused when I say I'm part Syrian and part Assyrian).

My mom's dad was Hawaiian but her mom was from Tahiti.

So I'm half Middle Eastern and half pacific Islander.

I'm a citizen of the world. I certainly identify more with people like me around the world than with the general population of the country in which I live. I don't feel like I can take pride in my country's achievements without sharing the greater shame of its failings.

Countries are a pretty arbitrary way to divide people up, I don't pay them much notice.

My parents are both Angolan and that's where I am from too. However, my maternal grandfather was born in Angola to Portuguese parents.
