Do your pets get along well?

My two cocker spaniels, Buddy (white) and Samantha (black) have a fair rivalry but it didn't start out that way. After my dog of 12 years, Katie, who was also a cocker spaniel passed away in the summer of 2019 during my many medical complications from testicular torsion to hemoptysis episodes over and over, she refused to do anything besides stay with me.

I'd stay in bed, working lightly when I could but otherwise I wasn't cleared for any exercise and she was 100% committed to staying with me around the clock through the entire process.

Dogs truly are man's best friend, and that's quite a title to hold. So Buddy came first and greeted Samantha with hostility, wanting to fight her but she fought back and earned his respect.

It didn't take long before he went from fighting Samantha (not full on, mostly just growling and pushing) to licking her face periodically. Samantha usually kinda tries to push Buddy away or run off when he does this but not willing to take no for an answer, Buddy will continue to lick her face.

It's the most adorable thing ever and I try to capture it every time he does it, she's even done it to him occasionally to which he's far less resistant. Sometimes Buddy just wants to stand on the grass when I call him but Samantha will run up to him, run around him before running back to me as if to challenge him to a race which makes him run back inside with her.

Neither really get along well with my cat, Mia but she's grown on them. They didn't get along well with Riley who was 21 years old when he passed away in 2020, they'd try to go humpy on him and I'd have to pull them off of him🤦‍♂️
