Are you a hater or a congratulatory? Do you envy the success of others or do they inspire you to want better?

Congratulatory, I'm always happy for someone else's wins. It makes me want to do better and be around someone like that

I am not exactly a hater and can be congratulatory but...

I will never forget this moment...

It was June 1982.

I was recently devastatingly heartbroken - my first broken heart after my girlfriend had dumped me on 01 JAN 1982. I had just come home from my freshman year of college having done poorly the previous semester due to that broken heart.

So, one day that June, I go driving in the neighborhood near where my ex-GF lived and I learn on the radio that Princess Diana had given birth to a boy and that his name was going to be William and now, at birth, he's second in line to the throne of the UK.

I wasn't mad at the baby, but that was the moment it hit me how absolutely unfair life is. I am 19 and my life is practically in ruins, yet here's this newborn who has it made since Day One. He never has to worry about tuition for college or about getting a job in the real world or anything else. He is set. And, yet, here I am, dying inside suffering withdrawal from being incapable of being with my exGF, screwing up in college, and doing a shitty thankless job at a concessions stand in a town park with asshole teens working for me.

I think Prince William is a fine person and his mother, God rest her soul - she was an angel, did a good job while she was alive, so I am happy to see that William didn't turn out to be an asshole.

But then we have guys like Trump born on 3rd base thinking he hit a triple. He is a profound asshole who, because he's a profound asshole, lets people vicariously let their Id run free via his words and actions and thus got elected President of the USA while practically getting away with murder.

Deep down, I do feel envious and jealous, especially if that person performed better than me at something I pride myself in for being good at.

But I force myself to be a congratulatory person, not just because it is the right attitude to have, but also because I am genuinely impressed at their performance and/or happy for them.

We all need to learn to display good sportsmanship and quit being sore losers.

I usually am congratulatory but if the person did not earn it like it’s bc of privilege or who they are related too, their parents bought it for them (as an adult) or they are a bad person, then it’s different. I don’t envy at them I just ignore it

I'm a little of both

I'll be happy for someone and congratulate them and it does make me think, "Well if they can do it, I'm sure I can too", but I still experience that little bit of envy

In a general scenes I am very disconnected from other people. So I don't really hate or congratulate people on their success. Because a lot of the time I'm too busy working on something to notice their success and indifferent to it.

I am usually congratulatory for peoples successes but there are some bad people in the world who get ahead by bad schemes and I don’t really support that.

I am a competitor, and while I may not be thrilled that my opponent won, I will congratulate them and use the L as motivation to improve.

I'm always envious of people whit more success. However when its someone who worked for it and deserves it then I'm happy for them. But if it was someone who won the lottery right after getting out of jail then I'd be livid.

Half of the second option. I'm definitely happy seeing other succeed. But that doesn't necessarily make me want to change anything about myself. I'm happy with the pace I'm going and my life is progressing.

Congratulatory. Always. Comparing yourself and getting jealous is not something I want to do. Many are miserable doing that.

I envy it but I don't feel hate towards them nor a desire to see them fail just for the sake of it.

I do hope they fail later on and then I might have a chance to be successful as well
