Have you ever forgotten your dreams didn't come true and subconciously started to daydream about them?

My dreams are not pipe dreams yet. There is still hope they'll come true but the opposite scares me to death.

It's not just the pain of remembering immediately they didn't come true but the fear that I am mentally ill for not remembering they didn't come true.

I think it's cognitive inertia.

When you used to daydreaming about somethings most of your life therefore are adapted to thinking about them and it will be nearly impossible to pin the fact that they didn't come true in your head in such a way that you never mistake them as your future.
