More and more, It's becoming a cesspit.

The country in general has had high levels of immigration in the past 20 years. To give you a flavour of it, the town that I work in is now 30% non-white. This is a major demographic shift in the space of 20 years.

I've seen all the services crumble. Now there is always so much traffic. I don't believe in all the Co2 bollocks, but I do believe in pollution.

Since convid84 house prices and rents have literally risen by 50%. That's in the space of 3 years. Do you think salaries have made so much movement? It used to be a place where there was a low cost of living and low housing. Not any more.

More and more there is a greater encroachment of state power and bureaucracy with a deleterious impact on invididual autonomy and freedom.

The place that I live in is quite suburban and staddles beautiful English countryside. But you still feel the encroach. The pressure on housing to build on those last bits of green sanctuary.

I love it!

I have 30 acres of oak grassland on a west-facing slope with an amazing view in the western Sierra Nevada foothills.

I have an excellent well, a grid-tied solar voltaic system, a small orchard with 18 varieties of fruit trees, decorative trees, bushes and flowers, some established herb bushes, and veggie gardens.

I love the deer, quail, turkey, and other birds and wildlife that abounds.

If I could ask for anything else, it would be to be close to the pacific ocean. But I'm content.

My property is a bit like this, but with more oak trees and a few pines. And there are some big, moss rocks.
It is as green as Ireland in the spring.

I absolutely love where I live. I live in Los Angeles, California. I was born and raised here. I’ll travel and go visit other places, but I’ll never move out of California. I might buy a house somewhere and have it as a vacation house but California will always be my home.

Objectively speaking it would be 50/50. It has some advantages, it has some disadvantages too.
Subjectively speaking, I would prefer living closer to nature/close to sea rather than in the heart of the city, although like I said it also has some advantages.

Yeah I do, it’s lovely n flat, fairly quiet, wildlife, not too far a drive from Cambridge. Nice local pubs, decent eating places, nice for afternoon walks or early morning runs. Oh and the biggest risk is from angry squirrels and a neighbour had his lawn mower stolen and 5 years ago.

I do, It's a part of Michigan that is relatively calm weather wise. We have four distinct seasons but mostly no real extremes. except for the occasional winter blast that can wreck havoc every couple of years. I'm back off the road away from traffic in the country with some acreage (fields, meadows and woods) and a river. I can see my neighbors but they're not that close to me. Its peaceful and quiet, lots of wildlife around. Several lakes nearby, several big cities a short drive away and a village close by for my needs. I'm very happy where I live, I definitely feel blessed.

Yes High quality infrastructure, "free" high quality healthcare and not abusing the hell out of it's citizens in every possible aspect. An upgrade would be a region with world class beaches nearby.

I'm definitely blessed to have grown up as I did in the area I live in. It's a great area, but I wouldn't say I want to live here the rest of my life. I have other places in mind when I move out.

Yes and no.
All 4 seasons but I hate winter. NYC but it's so expensive.
Lots of services but high taxes
Great schools but expensive uni
Any cuisine you want but $$$
Need a car / public transit bad
Eclectic demographics & racist
Lots of entertainment but $$$

It's just too expensive to live here and that is limiting no matter how great the amenities.
