Must I have a birthday party?

I was throwing a party with four of my friends going; but now, one of my best friends is busy doing something with his parents and I’m not getting on well with my other best friend right now, which leaves the other two casual friends and myself going. I didn’t really want to have a party anyway. I just wanted something simple.

Girl, if your heart's not in it, don't force yourself to have a big party just cause! That'll just make your birthday feel stressful instead of fun.

It's totally okay to celebrate in a lowkey way with just a couple close friends. Maybe the four of you could do something chill like get dinner and see a movie. Or have a cozy night in making cookies and playing games.

You deserve to spend your special day doing something you'll genuinely enjoy. Don't let what's "supposed" to happen take that away from you.

Plus canceling now beats having an awkward party where you wish you were somewhere else! Your real friends will understand. Tell them you want something more low pressure and they should be game.

Do something simple that makes you happy. That's the best gift you can give yourself! Don't sweat it - this day is all about you feeling good, girl. You've got this!
