How common is it for Christmas parcels sent interstate and overseas to be stolen during the Christmas season?

Should I finish posting ahead of time, to try to stop it from happening? I have two people on one family side left to post for and I have a whole heap of people from the other extended family for whom to post. Some live interstate, others overseas.

I've had international parcels lost. I'd say the possibility of something getting stolen is higher in December, during the weeks leading up to Christmas.

There are ways to send things insured. It doesn't cost a lot on your side, it's only a fraction more, but you'll have to declare the value on a customs form, so maybe not what you like to do for a gift.

I'm the inventor of Teddy Bear surgery. I surgically installed a pre-paid debit card into the belly of a used Teddy Bear, and shipped it overseas. It was the only way that card wouldn't have been stolen by the mail people. I included a note stating how sad I was to hear about Cindy's cancer. It worked.

Necessity is the mother of invention. A new Teddy Bear would have been stolen. I went to the second hand store and got a dirty-looking one. :)
