Do you miss the 90s and early 2000s at all?

There are few things about my adulthood I wouldn't trade for the world, such as my fiance whom I am about to marry and my personal growth in maturity I very much needed (and fell very behind in, even throughout most of my 20s).

There are many attributes of the past I very much miss, however. I miss when people were more genuine, social, compassionate of others, personable, generous, more well-mannered, and, well, less batshit crazy.

Everyone today, including older adults in my family who I used to respect and look up to have become jaded, stingy, self-centered, cold, and some are just outright mean.

I have lost a lot of my family who have alienated me over the past decade or so, right around the Obummer era. Of course, my mental health has spiraled over those years as well. There are a lot of reasons behind that I will not go into detail here. Some of you already know my turbulent past.

I miss the days where I would sleep over at my Nana's house and sneak around the house and explore. I enjoyed especially around Christmas when my Nana had holiday decor all around with gingerbread houses and Christmas trees lit up at night. I remember watching the Dexter's Lab Ego Trip on VHS and lay cozy in the dome-shaped chair she had.

This was a time when cool tech was emerging, but it wasn't dominating in our lives like it is now. I remember listening to CDs in a personal CD player on long car trips.

This was a time when the economy seemed prosperous. We could take family vacations in the summer. I lived in a 2-story house in a nice, well-kept subdivision. I went to church that had incredible youth programs. Things were so much different back then.

Today, as the middle class is dying, people are being squeezed thin, homeownership is becoming less and less obtainable, the loneliness crisis wreaking havoc, family units falling apart, divorces being a common occurrence, and opportunities for stable, well-paying middle-class jobs are vanishing, it is just so bleak.
