My parents used to just have me use a card linked to their account when I was too young to work.

Since working summers, I have my own CC account and pay my own things for the most part. I still need some assistance throughout the year being in school and only working limited hours during that time.

No, I didn't receive a fixed allowance and neither did my son.
We would spend our money on things that we saw and liked and bought them.
And I would just pay for us to go to the movie theater or rid the go carts, play miniature golf, eat out, etc.

I didn't. As soon as my kids got to high school they got jobs. Now they have work ethic and none of them have ever been without a job.

i always had to pay for my own stuff as a teen and helped my dad with his bills (i shouldn't had done that tho) so giving them an allowance is very strange to me lol
