What would you do if your significant other insisted on a dumb baby name?

I don't care what culture you're from, there are baby names that are dumb if not irresponsible to name a child who has to live with this name for the rest of their lives unless they get fed up enough to legally change it, but that's a long 18 years to go before even that can happen.

That’s horrible. In Mexico in a city they banned the name Facebook after someone named their little girl Facebook

so the little girl keeps her retarded name but nobody else can ever name their kid that there

and upon finding that name they see someone else named their boy “circumcision” so they banned it as well

then in I believe it was Colombia, someone named their little girl “chat yipiti” because they tried to name her chat gpt but in Spanish they say yipiti

ao they banned chatyipiti and chat gpt but the child gets to keep the retarded name cause they had already named her before it was banned

some people are really inconsiderate and don’t realize people will make fun of that human all their life.

if my partner really wanted to name our child a very weird name I’d try to understand why? For what purpose? Do they really just like the sound of it or because they think it’s funny? If it’s just cause it’s funny it’ means you married a person with mental health issues.

if it’s because they like the sound then that can be discussed

for example velveeta sounds a bit nice but it’s weird only because we know it’s from a cookie.. there is the name Vita and Valeria that sound similar to that so if it’s the sound they like we can compromise and name the baby vita Valeria or even velen

for example in Turkish they have this name bajar which in Spanish sounds absurd because it means to descend to come Down and we find it absurd because we have a word that means continent thing

yet in Turkish it’s a beauty of a name lol

so if it’s because my partner find the sound of it “nice” it can be discussed

But not just cause it’s funny that’s really concerning.. why would you purposely want to name your child something they will laugh at.. that’s not normal

abcde for example initially sounds absurd but actually maybe someone does really like how it sounds and wanted that not to laugh at but because they actually liked it..

I mean I don’t want kids and probably wouldn’t have this happen to me. But if I’m carrying the baby if it’s my body that’s changing and going through the strain of having a kid I have first name rights. I’m doing all the work I get first name. He can have middle and obviously last.

A name should be a mutual decision if the intentions was malicious I would be concerned with my choice of a significant other. If it was just a name I simply didn’t like… I would talk about it. That’s something couples need to talk about and agree with one another. It takes two to make and raise a baby

”Names” like that aren’t legal in my country so it wouldn’t get approved anyway. But if he insisted on a name I didn’t like he’d have to give that up because I would never name my child something I didn’t like. If he didn’t agree on something else I’d just go ahead and name the baby without his approval. If we aren’t married then legally I can do that here. I’d try to pick a name he felt was ok too despite it not being his first choice.

And the sad thing is the kids are like forced to go by a nickname and hate when new teachers or whatever have to use their legal name because kids are cruel and they laugh and bully.
