Definitely, children are so much fun. I tend to act like a big kid a lot of the time myself. I once had a women break up with me and her son called the next day and asked if this means I didn't want to be his friend anymore? He grew out of that eventually, but she let me still be a part of his life till he didn't want me around anymore.

I believe children have a way of bringing out the best in us.

My first experience dating a man with kids was really really good and really really bad. I had just turned 28 and he was 35 when we started dating and he had a 4 year old daughter and a 9 year old son. That relationship lasted one year and I fell hard for this guy. He ended up leaving me which absolutely destroyed me! The Break up completely took me out for three whole years. I'm talking going a week without showering, changing, leaving my room let alone moving from the same spot for 3 days. Not eating, barely drinking water, crying uncontrollably for the first year and a half and ruminating over and over and over what I had, what I was losing and how much it hurt thinking about all the things they are doing with someone new. Just understand that by being a step parent, you have no legal ties or any rights whatsoever if you're SO decides they don't want anything to do with you anymore. It won't matter one bit how much love you have, how close you grew, or how fiercely you cared and protected those kids. You will be at risk of learning what it feels like to be completely powerless to losing them forever in the cruelest way. The worst part was not being able to say goodbye to his kids, which was especially hard on his little girl. I remember him calling me at one point and his daughter screaming and crying for me and he didn't care at all. So I would just tell you to be aware that at any moment your SO could pull the rug out from under you without concern or remorse for what pain it would cause you and the children to suddenly rip you out of their lives like that bond meant nothing and has no consequences.

If you're dating somebody that has been divorced and has kids and you really like her , you have to understand it's a package deal , and that's all there is to it , and if you do not like that , then you should not get into that relationship

And if you do get into that relationship , then you do become the step parent , you need to become the best that parent ever throughout all the selfish crap about yourself and make it about the kids you have an opportunity to learn something yourself through these kids. And also be kind, you don't need to yell, scream or discipline by hitting kids. You teach them and if you love the person that you want to be with. Those kids are now part of it. They're part of the deal , it's a package deal

But don't become like most step. Parents and be bossy and controlling

Because if that happens , you're gonna be out on your a** one day because that's not cool

Not likely. I was open to it, but i’m not just going to sign up for the responsibility of providing for a child without the authority to discipline them. That’s a loser’s bet, and nobody with any sense and self respect would accept that.
Since the vast majority of women are entitled jerks raising little entitled jerks, i have yet to meet one with a sense of discipline at all. Let alone one that matches my own. That’s why i quit knowingly dating women with kids. And one of the many reasons i quit dating altogether. Women with kids just hide it like they haven’t figured out that it’s not the kid that makes them undesirable. It’s their sh*tty attitude and personality. The kid is just a side effect of the problem.

I would. Before marrying a woman, who has a kid or kids, I'd make sure I can be a father figure to them. I won't marry her unless she makes it clear her kids are the most important thing in her life. I expect to play second fiddle to her kids, if her kids don't like me, then I won't marry her.

Her son was about 8 when we met and about 12 when we married.

I married her on the condition that he didn't live with us.

That helped the marriage.
