How do women view the fedora?

I've seen the stigma of how men who wear fedoras are supposed to be, and I'm curious how this affects your opinion of a guy. This question is assuming that you do not know what the guy looks like nor his personality, just his choice of headwear.

The real problem with fedoras is that the wrong guys are wearing them - let's face it, in our society guys/girls make the look, the look doesn't make them. If handsome, masculine men with chiseled features and nice bodies wore fedoras while also wearing suits (with or without the ties), fedoras would be cool. But they're not the ones wearing them - the guys wearing them are fat, out of shape basement dwellers with ugly facial features, and the other clothing they wear is ugly as well. They have given the fedora a bad reputation by making it associated with them, and therefore when the average girl hears the word "fedora" she thinks "fat ugly guy". The two are linked in her mind, and so when even an average looking guy with an ok body wears one, she thinks less of him because the fedora brings to her mind obesity and ugly facial features.

The only way to rescue the fedora is for men with handsome facial features that go to the gym regularly to start wearing them, breaking the stereotype and creating a new stereotype, that will bring with it a new association that fedoras = hot guys in the minds of average girls. And I don't see that happening, so if the average guy wears a fedora, he's fucked (or better yet, not fucked).

General consensus from lady friends of mine is that it looks weeby. Some girls like it though.

Unless you're super smooth and suave, and just one of those people who can pull everything off, I don't like it. People who can pull it off are really rare. It tends to look better on Black and East Asian men. It you're white and also have one of those little beards, it just looks like you have no sense of fashion at all, like you got stuck in time and care too much about your appearance, but still have no idea what you're doing.

But then again, some people are surprising. My boyfriend currently really likes berets, and while I'd usually avoid that like the pest because it looks really pretentious and annoying, he manages to pull it off without looking like a douche.

So I guess, personality matters most, but my general opinion is, don't wear them.

See, the fedora, by itself, is an elegant and sophisticated-looking hat.
The problem is that ALMOST EVERYTIME I see someone wearing a fedora, the rest of their outfit ISN'T on par with that elegance and sophistication.

They're wearing this formal accessory, while every other part of their outfit is casual and/or unkempt.
That's not the way to go. If you're going to wear a fedora, then at least LOOK the part of a gentleman. None of this baggy t-shirt, hoodie, ripped jeans, or sweatpants kind of stuff.

Get your get-up right. You don't have to go all 3-piece suit and twice-polished loafers, but at least put on a blazer and some trousers. And trim your beard, please.

Well, unfortunately, everytime somebody thinks theyre wearing a fedora, they're actually wearing a trilby. So I like fedoras, but trilby's have gained a bad reputation.

I know this is nitpicking, but that was a trilby. Indiana jones wore a fedora. The two hats look nothing alike.
