Basically the purpose of wearing red lipstick and/or lip-gloss is to increase sex appeal. Lips are compared with labia majora - commonly known as the outer lips of vaginal opening. Red lips serve as a reminder of the labia, which flush red and swell when they’re aroused. It swells and turn red because of high blood flow through them if a girl is horny and ready for sex. It is also a sign of her desire for enjoying sex. That is why healthy pink or red lips are attractive to males and they usually image it as outer lips. Normally naturally soft and pink lips look very sexy. A little gloss can add a more sexy look to the naturally sexy looking lips.

Only on some girls. For instance, I think Taylor Swift looks hideous with it. Yet some girls are bombshells with it on. It's not a matter of beauty, it's more compatability. I don't know bout matte or glossy, either seems fine.

It will depend of the rest of the outfit and the color skin but usually yes and usually I would prefer shiny. With respect the shiny is more tempting :p

Lipstick looks disgusting to me personally. I much prefer the look of lipgloss, but nothing beats well maintained (chapstick) natural lips.

I don't wear makeup so I wouldn't understand but it's more of a bold color for special occasions or something. Though if you like it and want to wear it go ahead ! It looks great !
