Do glasses make a person look like a nerd?

I rarely wear glasses, even though I can't see properly, I got used to it, but whenever I wear them, people percieve me as a nerd and as a book worm. I love books, but I don't like when people make false assumptions about me, that's why I rarely wear glasses. People do tell me they look good on me, but also tell me that I look like a whole different girl. I don't feel comfortable in them and plus I think guy's won't like me. Also I can't wear contacts, I tried and it hurt. So, do glasses make a person look like they have a whole different personality?

Of course glasses make you look like a different person. Just like a different outfit or a different hair style would. They might make you look nerdier just like how a ponytail might make you look sportier. If you wear glasses, people are going to make false assumptions. But if you don't wear glasses, people will still make false assumptions. There's no way to avoid that. Also, looking different at times is a good thing. If someone is used to seeing you without glasses, they're going to think you look really good once they see you with them, and vice-versa. For best results, I would recommend wearing them sometimes do accent your style. However, if you can't see well without them, you should never make sacrifices as severe as not being able to see just based on fashion or beauty.

My dad said his friends used to put on glasses even when they didn't need them just to look smart. But yes, when I see a girl with glasses I also automatically assume she's smart.
I used to be like you but started wearing them my last semester of college because my grades were slipping cuz I couldn't see shit.
And all these girks started taking to me. And also I was told I look better with glasses.
Glasses were design to make you see better and nothing else.
You shouldn't worry what other people think, but u understand why you do.
But if your vision is really that bad wear them. If you can still manage without them, don't wear them. Or just wear them around the house.

It depends on the frame of the glasses itself, as someone said, if it's too big, it may show you as a nerd, but if it's more modern, stylish, it'll look cool. I personally wear glasses and I mean I definitely don't look like a nerd so, plus don't get your hopes down, many guys like girls who wear glasses and many of them even stated here.

I've been wearing them since I was 12. but now have contacts and glasses. but i prefer my look with glasses cause they are more stylelish and expensive so why not wear them.

I think it depends on the person, the girl in the picture you posted I don't know if that's you? But it suits her, even with those old-school glasses on. But even if glasses perceive the person as being a bookworm, what's wrong with that? Reading more books enhances one's ability to have a stronger vocabulary and writing skills than someone who does not read as often. Don't take it as an insult if people say that dumb shit, embrace it and feel proud about yourself, it's good to be different.

I don't really think so, I don't really think of it when I see someone with glasses lol. It'd not a bad thing either, why would it be? You look hot. I'd say if your teeth, makeup, hair, skin, was all buck toothed/crooked, makeup unskillfully put on, hair poorly cared for and all oily and not styled, skin all oily/pimply, then I'd say youd have a somewhat stereotypical "nerd" look.

I also don't have perfect vision, but I don't wear glasses much anymore. I can still see fairly well (nearsighted), and over the last several years, my vision has actually been IMPROVING slightly. Anyway, the nerd look has a lot to do with the shape of the head, the shape of the face, and the style of glasses. If you're able to pull off that perfect combination, you can look really good with glasses. So many people have glasses that the style doesn't compliment their face.

It depends on the glasses. Thick-rimmed glasses that are too big for any normal human face do typically make the wearer come off as a bit nerdy or worse yet, a hipster. So I just stay away from that style of frame entirely.

If they help you see you gotta take care of you. Although the rim shape can have a huge effect on how they look on your certain face shape. Maybe consider trying on different pairs.
I wear glasses and have had the same comments from people, but at some point you have to come to terms with it's not your doing that you needs glasses to see!

About nine years later, I will NEVER take them off.
