Do you think eyes that are far apart or close together are more attractive?

Both of these are very good-looking people in my opinion, but I don't think Ryan Gosling's eyes are actually close together. I think his face is just broader than usual. Normal artist canon is one eye-spacing apart between the eyes, and he has that (if they're close together, it's very slight). With the girl her eyes actually do look a little bit more than eye space apart.

I think what makes his face rather unusual is how broad and elongated his face is. He also very low and prominent brow ridge which makes his eyes look very deep set, and maybe that contributes to the sense that his eyes are closer together. But as far as I can tell they don't actually seem that close together as far as relative proportions go especially when looking straight-on from the front.

I took that rule into account, and while I'd normally agree with you, you should also factor in the relative proportion of his other features.

That makes with the broader face -- that's gonna make his features look kind of "squished in" I think. I might be analyzing it too much just in terms of strict eye spacing. But I think it's like a holistic sort of thing. It'd be difficult for me to say, generally speaking without looking at an individual, what's more attractive. But I'd say just into drawing portraits, it usually seems more aesthetic to err on the side of eyes slightly further apart than too close together.

Like I've made both types of mistakes, and I'd say it's less flattering, generally speaking, to get the eyes a little too close together than a little too far apart.

Looks normal and fine to me. Maybe ever-so-slightly closer together, but that's where the individual features come into account as I see it. It's probably different when I make a mistake drawing eyes on faces because I'm not adjusting the rest of the face to account for my mistake -- it's just a blatant inaccuracy on my part in eye spacing.

Normal space. But rahter far apart than close together, I really don't think eyes close together is attractive. I dated a guy that looked so much like Ryan Gosling that they could have been twins, but I could never get over the eye thing. I stopped dating him for various other reasons too but the eyes were definitely one of the many reasons.
