Wearing a Beanie after Showering?

So after I shower, I wear a beanie to control my curls and make my hair somewhat straight.
Sometimes I wear a beanie while sleeping too. Will this do any damage to my hair? The beanie is just for kind of straightening it, to make it stay in place instead of curl up.
