Why do people like Scarlett Johansson?

Because she is a famous actress.
Famous people, particularly big movie stars, have the edge in that people get to familiarize with them via movies and television.
Their mannerisms, behavior, they feel a lot more "real" to the average person than some model they know nothing about.
There are simply just more things to find attractive about an actor, on top of their appearance.

And thus, people who don't consume that kind of media, will perceive them as significantly less attractive, because they have never developed that bias towards them.

I don't know maybe because she played in a lot of movies which are widely considered good and successful, is very open with her fan base, has portrayed likable characters, seems likable enough as a person for the way she presents, talks on interviews, and yes because she is drop dead gorgeous according to a LOT of people, again everyone has different tastes but both for looks and personality I wouldn't touch Kim Kardashian with a thirty foot pole...

I think in general she is very good looking. Kim Kardashian is fake. She has millions invested in plastic surgery. Nothing beautiful about being fake with most of your appearance.
