Why is Scarlett Johansson so overrated?

I get a news feed from the Daily Mail and every day there are several notifications along the lines of 'ABC sizzles in scorching bikini'. Sometimes I fall for the clickbait despite having seen a lot of girls in bikini of varying brevity on beaches.

In answer to your question there is a lot of commercial motivation to build up ABC as being most beautiful woman of all time. Girls will want to look. Guys will want to look.

But I have a deeper theory about this. Lets go back to year 1 AD. All religions were naturalistic then and there is simplistic appeal to worshiping the creation rather than the creator. Back then creation worship was all there was.

Procreation is part of the creation. Grains sprouting, lambs being born etc.
I think there is still a nature worship urge in us even though it is unsaid or even thought now we worship the creator.

We still say Mother Nature in a sort of mystic way and pay excessive prices for spring water (which I think is an allegory for womens sex juices by the way).

Enter the concept of the Hollywood Sex Symbol! A representation of the perfect woman as a substitute for Venus and Aphrodite. And Brad Pitt/Johnny Dep as subs for numerous phallic gods.

I think we still have that need in us and of course for profit organisations are there to satisfy it at the expense of excessive hyperbole.

Everyone has different opinion. Beauty can be really subjective thing. Maybe she fills all required standard expected by society

FINALLY. Someone with eyes. I think she’s a great actress and is overall a cool person. But appearance wise, I’ve never understood the appeal. She’s not ugly don’t get me wrong, but I’ve seen thousands of women I’d much rather look like than her.
