Do you ever see kids walking around with untied shoe laces?

I see kids all the time walking around with untied shoe laces, like it is a fad or something. I don't get it. When I walk around the house with untied laces I always step on them and almost trip. How do they do it without falling on their faces?

When I see it, I "accidentally" step on the strings, let them trip and then let them know their shoe came untied.
