To me it seems like the sort of piercing that isn't worth the hassle. Unless you wear crop tops every single day, it's not like you're going to get the opportunity to show it off a lot. Also, I've heard that they can ruin your tops over time, since it'll rub against the fabric and potentially cause holes or distress. Not to mention that wearing anything high waisted or too tight would feel uncomfortable and could cause bleeding or an infection. A friend of mine accidentally had hers ripped out due to poor choice in clothing.
Personally, I also kinda feel like it's a bit of an outdated and trashy looking piercing. It was "in" in the 90s and early 2000s, so nowadays it feels a bit gimmicky. I prefer focusing on other types of jewellery, like a cool pair of earrings, an eye-catching necklace, beautiful rings. Things that are less permanent and less of a hassle, that you can change and coordinate with your outfit (rather than the other way around).

Many might disagree, especially with this particular piercing, but I just don't see the point of getting a belly piercing if you're not going to show it off. It's like putting a bunch of rings on your fingers and then wearing gloves all the time. Or wearing nice earrings, but hiding them under a bulky scarf. Jewellery is meant to be seen, so to me it just doesn't make a lot of sense to get a part of you pierced that you can only show off on the rare occasion and that might cause a lot of trouble in the long run.
I've seen a few that got badly infected and it messed up the skin area around the belly button permanently, so much so that you would not want to show it. Some girls have even had to have their belly buttons removed and been sewed up without having one. Not a pleasant sight. You should check out the pros and cons of getting your

My ex wanted one. It ended few times with an infection. It needs a lot of time to heal and it the primary piercing has to be antiseptic (high amount of silver). Silver is soft and the thread of the piercing gets easily damaged, therefore you need several of these silver piercings as backup. If you pull out the piercing for cleaning it's often very difficult, even after few minutes, to insert the piercing again and you need an antiseptic creme as lubricant. Don't use disinfection agents based on alcohol.
I think they can look great - If I remember rightly you are a swimmer, the healing criteria as regards sports might take a little longer in this case.

I recently got my daith pierced and I've been doing all of the aftercare and I realised that a navel piercing is actually pretty hectic but I got mine when I was 13 so after the first week I kinda forgot about it and didn't do any of the care and it's fine (no infections, no bumps and marks) . Pain level I didn't feel it, but when my step sister for hers she fainted from the pain so everyone to their own. As for the sports cover it up with a plaster/bandaid because if it's a contact sport it can be ripped out (in my matric year we had a netball game and one of the girls belly rings got ripped out). And I'd say go for it, I've had mine in for so long that my stomach looks weird without it

I think belly button piercings are super cute especially if you have an innie belly button. I have mine pierced and even though I have a few piercings, this one got infected way more than my other piercings because it literally gets stuck everywhere. And the pulling and trauma you are causing to your piercing will make it take more time to heal. So it took me about a year unfortunately. Just try not to get it stuck on clothes or blankets and you should be fine lol

I find it very unattractive, as I do all piercings. The only ones that don't bother me are ear piercings because that's been a normal to me since I've been alive. In general, I don't know why anyone pierces their skin and leaves a chunk of metal there. That's just me though.

if you do sports so soon put a plaster over it... also be prepared for the fact than they nearly always work themselves out within a year or two as the body slowly rejects it. they aren't long lasting like most other piercings

Well any piercing will hurt unless if your ass cheek but you got to look at it as a hazard also get in a fight sure. If you wear a knitted sweater and it hangs or do really tough and get nipples pierced a friend told me that was the worst thing that he experienced

Belly button piercings are very unattractive. I want to see more of the belly button and no metal. Belly buttons are super attractive, especially when the girl wears a bikini. But pierced is disgusting. Only piercings I like are the ear lobes.
