Depends on what they use. Nowadays there are special one time use only earrings made from medical materials that are sterilised and ensure the proper healing of the piercing. I got my second ear pierces at a jewelry store. And although it hurt like hell - I'm extremely sensitive to pain - they turned out fine.

Depends what piercing , if it's just the lobe than it would probably be okay , wouldn't for cartilage just seems like they'd use piercing guns to do the job and shattered cartilage is something to avoid.

Piercing places have surgical needles versus a gun that shoots it through kind of tearing as it goes. I did some research when my daughter wanted it done.

Mmm hell nah. Except from the fact that everytime that i see needles i feel like im about too faint, I also dont trust this "super cheap" ear piercing offers

Nah I'd rather do it myself. My 3rd lobe holes were done by a friend at school and it was less painful then the piercing gun at Claire's
