How do I tell my mom I need a bra?

I'm 13 and I'm very sure that I need a bra. I measured myself about a month ago as a 28F/DDD. I'm really nervous to tell my mom. I'm not sure if she thinks I need one or is just denying it. When she sees someone running or something and they don't have a good bra she'll say to me, "she needs a better bra for that" so I'm not sure why she hasn't done this to me. Please give me ideas for how to tell her!

Because of the restrictions from covid19, we're not allowed to have more than one person per household in a store at a time and we're not allowed to try on stuff. Should I tell my mom now or when we are allowed to try on stuff?

Hi! I remeber when I first needed a bra. It can seem kinda embarrassing to go and ask your mom for a bra, but I promise- she probably been waiting for you to ask her. it just part of developing, don't be shy to talk to her. I know at first because it new, its not comfortable talking to others about it, but it changes overtime. just say to your mom " mom, its time for me to start wearing a bra" that way it doesn't say how big you are, or how developed it just lets your mom know, that your growing and a bra is something that you want to wear. trust me, all girls and even guys go through very similar experiences like you. Its just part of growing up. soon you'll look back at this and laugh. Im 17, and me and my mom talk about bras, and boobs and so much more quite often because were comfortable with talking about it. it draws you closer together because you both bond on your feminine features. I hope that helps, I know its scary, but you just gotta go for it. <3

Just be honest with your mom. I know it can seem kinda weird and embarassing at first but it's important that you have a bra that fits you right. And I'm sure your mom will understand. All girls and women have to put up with wearing bras. there's no reason you should have to walk around feeling uncomfortable because it doesn't fit right. Itll be okay!

Just straight out tell her she's your mom she wears bras too if she hasn't acknowledged that you need them either she's waiting for you to ask or she has hinted at it before but you didn't notice

Just ask her, what's the worst that could happen? I mean she definetly won't deny you needing one if you insist on her buying you a bra.

I had the same dilemma. I went through puberty insanely slowly. My first period was at 15- that's how late it was. So i though boobs would never come. At the ripe ol' age of 13 i suddenly realised something and had to tell my mum. It's definitely an awkward conversation. Simplest answer, be direct, say very little and just say 'I think i should start wearing a bra'. Every other question just say yes or no to. Anything else will scar jou 😅

I'm pretty sure that if your mom is sane and normal person, she will without negotiation buy her 13 year old daughter more than one bra. Don't be afraid, just ask her.

Ya. I think I probably did. It's 26 inches under bust and 32 bust.

In regards to your update: stores specializing in bras (or even some that don’t) will have the option to have an associate take your measurements so you know your bra size. I would recommend asking.

Though if it’s more comfortable you could wait until you can try the bras on. Considering not all bras are the same an you’ll want to know what you’re comfortable wearing before you buy it.
