I legitimately didn't even know what a "hip dip" was before this question. And I also didn't even know a "thigh gap" was a thing until last year. Personally, judging on the pictures, I prefer round, curvy hips. The "hip dip" pics look like a disfigurement, to be honest.
Also, OP, you sound like a major cunt in the update and response comments. Don't ask a question on here, and then get mad, bitchy, petty, and immature because people don't automatically agree with you. It's not a good look and you come off like an entitled asshole not used to getting your way.86 Reply- +1 y
Well, for one, I'm not sure if most men even know what this is. Are you sure this isn't a personal insecurity you're projecting onto everyone else? Seriously; how many men know what a "hip dip" is? And two, as others pointed out (and you dismissed them in doing so), women body-shame *all the time!* They body shame men for being less than six feet tall as being 'short losers' (https://imgur. com/a/8TJan), they body-shame unattractive men, by calling them incels, and they body-shame other women too, for everything under the sun. Most men either don't care or would have sex with the "body-shamed" woman either way, so men are not the ones doing that most of the time, if ever.
- +1 y
It’s a well known insecurity amongst women, most men tend to not know what they are but some do and I was just curious. The majority of women have hip dips so it’s not just personal. And yes there are bitches out there who body shame anyone but just because someone has body shamed you before doesn’t mean you get to start shaming others you know? I was referring to the amount of men on here that were being rude. Not those who just state their preferences
- +1 y
Saying it's a disfigurement is offensive.
- +1 y
So just because *OTHER* women body shame *SOME* men, it gives you the right to body shame *ALL* women who have hip dips and call them disfigured, assuming all women with hip dips are these judgy bitches just because some women are? The ignorance in your comment is astounding. You're being far more bitchy and petty than OP is, and it's laughable that your dumb comment got the "MHO" status.
- 2 mo
You must give your blessing to tell balding men that they look disfigured, then! Since you think it’s okay to talk to all women like this because some women talk to men like this, that must make it okay to talk to all men like this, too. Congratulations, you’ve made the world a worse place, and when you start to see random women on the internet telling men that they look disfigured when they start going bald, know THAT’S the impact that you left on this world. That’s the good that you food for men. Congratulations.

+1 yGuys don't notice? 🤣🤣🤣 Because they don't have a clue, and they would be super excited if they saw hips any where
For me any hips are sexy hips and if i have to choose a favorite it would be hip dips and i don't want to explain why :P100 Reply
+1 yBro, you ask for an honest opinion yet, when you get one men are picky? you asked their preference, not if they wouldn't date someone because of it. Also, there is a muscle you can grow that gets rid of your hip dips. Don't ask for advice from the internet if you're not ready to hear opinions that you don't consider ideal.

It's because some men in here are being crude about it, and shaming women with hip dips. Not the men who have "preferences".
+1 yGuys dont care about this. In my experience women are more focused on looks than men. Nothing wrong with it. Everyone can have physical preferences but i personally dont know many guys who care much about woman's look. Maybe i am just surrounded by non shallow guys.

Finding something attractive and it being a relationship dealmaker, are two different things, kid.
Personally I am not a ass man/hips man, the derriere and pelvis of a woman, therefore, isn't my area of focus.
But women with smaller hips tend to struggle to give birth: according to most cultures. The "dips" will make that more problematic as the shape of the fallopian tubes will alter. Not an obs or gyno specialist, but you don't seem too clued up on the matter either.40 Reply
+1 ywell, its instictive to go with more healthier body. all the time,
i would not worry if you have a health body with hip dips, hip dips, are like. the last thing that will damge a healthy body lols, what i find really unatricative, is fat people, unhealthy people, wemon that do not climb the lader of growth. i want to work out, i want to be healthy, dress in nice stuff, eat nice food. but i want my woman to join me on this climb, i dont want them to fallow no, i want to find someone to climb with. sadly i do not see such wemon. sadly, my life is shit soo i can't climb the ladder of growth.00 Reply
+1 yI had to google this. I don't think I've ever thought about it or registered it in my mind until now. But I guess looking back I've seen a lot of dips. (Huh, learnt something new today.) Either way though... As long as the Booty is there, I don't care.
50 Reply355 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Until this ask I'd never heard of 'hip dips'.
Guy will focus of the ratio between hips and the waist, we are looking for the waist to be.7 -.8 of the measurement of the hips.
The waist–hip ratio or waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) is the dimensionless ratio of the circumference of the waist to that of the hips. This is calculated as waist measurement divided by hip measurement (W⁄H). For example, a person with a 30″ waist and 38″ hips (or a 75cm waist and 95cm hips) has WHR of about 0.79.
The WHR has been used as an indicator or measure of health, fertility, and the risk of developing serious health conditions. WHR correlates with perceptions of physical attractiveness.
10 ReplyCould I be attracted to woman with or without hip dips? Certainly, as this does not affect pheromones. That being said, do I find them visually appealing? Depends. The Woman in the second picture has very distinct profile. I think the clothes she picked don't go well with her build and that makes it look visually unappealing. She could have worn something more suitable for her. I think a lower waisted pants would have looked better. Visually high waisted pants look odd. This is just based off pictures. In real life if I were pheromonally attracted to woman such as her, I would notice it less, though I'd still think low waisted pants would look better. However, none of that would account for her spiritual state, which matters immensely more.
10 ReplyI'd like to comment on your edit. I don't think it's sad that both women and men on this app have a personal preference and have expressed it when asked. If you asked this expecting people to say they preferred hip dips in order to validate yourself, then I think you should take some time to work on your own insecurities rather than attacking people for having an opinion.
33 Reply- +1 y
Never attacked anyone, maybe you didn’t understand my comment. I was talking about those who were being pushy with their preference invalidated women who don’t have round hips. It’s fine to not like hip dips but you don’t have to shame women for having them. Because many comments on here did have men saying rude shit. And that’s what I was addressing.
- +1 y
There's a huge difference between having a personal preference, vs bullying and shaming someone for possessing a certain feature.
- +1 y
Hi, I made this comment a while back and just stumbled upon it again with the recent reply that was made. Really don’t like what I said, and would like to apologise. I look like an ass, and truly believe that it was an out-of-character statement. It was rude, mean and completely not my place to say. Don’t think that it represents who I am as a person, and I don’t know what I was thinking when I typed it. Many of the comments on the post were shaming in nature, which really sucks. Have a good day.
I don’t mind either way, really not something that I think about at all. When you say it’s sad that guys are judging women based on bone structure though, think about the amount of women who judge men on height (that’s also to do with bone structure). These things go both ways and aren’t one-sided judgements.
22 Reply- +1 y
You do realize men also judge women by height too? They all prefer shorter women... but no one really talks about that, and it’s funny how everytime I girl points out an insecurity of the majority of woman, men just LOVE to bring up the topic of their height. Personally I don’t judge by height, I know many do but regardless both genders judge height. No hate by the way just my opinion.
- +1 y
That’s fair enough and you’re right. I was only pointing out that it’s also to do with bone structure, to make the point that this isn’t just a guy, nor just a girl problem. The last sentence of my comment literally says that these things go BOTH ways and that these judgements are always one-sided, implying that they shouldn’t be like that. I don’t like these massive generalisations, hence why I picked up on the update you made. It’s fine to have an opinion, don’t worry, no offence taken 😊
Wait, wait, wait. I read your update and so I have to tell you something. The fact that so many guys prefer hip dips doesn't mean that a girl without them won't get attention. It is like when you giirls say you like musclear man, you prefer them but if a man has no muscles its ok
10 Reply
+1 yI hate how hip dips are seen as unattractive. This is just my body I can't help that my upper hip is wider than my lower 😫
100 ReplyIt really doesn't matter to me, but to address your update: women judge men based on height and even what their face looks like, which is bone structure, so I fail to see the issue with the men who don't like hip dips.
27 Reply- +1 y
You’re the 3rd man who says this, why is it that men get triggered when women have insecurities that they LOVE a to bring up height? And I fail to see your argument since men prefer shorter girls anyway yet women don’t complain about men preferring that. Plus I don’t give a shit about height so good job generalizing. This isn’t hate at all but it’s annoying that y’all have to bring up height over everything, when many men care about height more than women do.
- +1 y
Everyone has different ideas on what they find attractive. There is nothing wrong with that. You are saying it is sad that some guys done like hip dips, yet height or not im sure there are guys you don't find attractive. Maybe you wouldn't date a guy 20 years older than you, and that is still a preference, because like your hip dip he can't change is age. The reason men bring it up, is because women act as if it is wrong that men have preferences, yet have preferences themselves. Height is just one that most women seem to be more finicky about than men. For example, plenty of women wouldn't date a man even if he is taller if she ends up being taller while wearing heels. Most men don't have an issues dating a women at least the same size or shorter, and many would be willing to date a women a least a little taller than them, but that doesn't mater because having a type is fine, all it does is limit your own dating pool, just don't judge men as being bad for having a type and they won't bring up height or other things to show women being hypocrites. And you kinda have to generalize when given little information, it is no different than how you are judging me for the little information I gave you on single comment.
- +1 y
If dating someone legal is considered a preference, I’m actually concerned, I’m 17 so no I would rather not be in an illegal relationship? At least where I’m from 17 year olds are minors... that isn’t preference, that’s called not wanting to catch a case 😂
I’ve never personally seen any man date a girl taller than them, so I’m sure most men are picky about height as well. Never said there was anything wrong with preferences but a tiny preference like that is super shallow. Hip dips shouldn’t matter and the majority of people think that, it’s fine to not like them but being rude about it - which a lot of people on here were - is not okay. - +1 y
Your profile says 18. Little things. Lots won't date someone who has a bad looking haircut, and some how you surprised that people don't like hip dips. And yes, being rude about it is wrong, but you have to understand that many of these men have had the same experience of women doing it to them in some shape or form.
- +1 y
Yes because I signed up with the wrong birthday and they won’t let me fix it. And no offence but okay just because let’s say a man shamed me, I’m not gonna go around generalizing all men for being body shamers. I’m not gonna go be rude to all men just because I had a bad experience with one? I’m surprised because the majority of men I’ve talked to don’t even know what hip dips are or don’t even notice them until pointed out. Half the men here in the comments discovered what they were just from this question so yes I’m surprised.
- +1 y
The difference is they have the anonymity of the internet. They likely won't do it in person. Also I new of hip dips, but I actually thought they were some weird body appearance trend type thing. Anyways I personally don't have a preference, nor do I understand why this was ever something people needed to talk about all the sudden, because I'm pretty sure some women had this before the 2000s😂
- +1 y
The astounding amount of y'all who don't know the difference between having a preference vs shaming someone...
OP: "It’s actually sad to see that men are that picky just because of a girls bone structure, judging by the results so far."

+1 yDon't be too judgmental about guys being picky about bone structure. Women are just as picky about the physical features they care about in men, (height, etc.).
21 Reply- +1 y
I like how everytime a girl asks about something about their own appearance, men automatically have to fire back with the “height” thing. It’s funny because men prefer girls shorter than them too... sooooo I don’t understand why guys keep bashing girls for liking taller guys. Personally, I don’t care. But the majority of both genders care so.

1 yI honestly didn't even notice them until my girlfriend said she's insecure about hers. I can say with great confidence that it has almost no bearing on my attraction to anyone. I can assure you that I am more attracted to my girlfriend's body than anyone else I've ever met. Also, Jessica Alba has them, and she's pretty hot. Emilia Clarke does too if I remember right. I would have a hard time imagining more attractive people than those three
00 ReplyBoth aren't very attractive.
Thin thighs and hips without hip dips are the most attractive.
Also, it's fat not "bone structure".
That woman in your example obviously has fat on her thighs but not the hips, that's why her upper thighs stick out.112 Reply- +1 y
You mean the second example with hip dips? It is bone structure. You can get rid of all fat on this area you will still have these hip dips. You can look up what hip dips are actually. If it would be just fat, then everyone just would remove the fat
- +1 y
@hi_it_is_me123
It's not bone structure.
Yes, high waist is bone structure, but those lumps on the top of her thighs are nothing more than fat.
You see any such lumps on Bella Hadid who has even higher waist? Or any fashion model for that matter?
No you don't, because this is not what "bone structure" does.
There is no bone where the lump is...

i agree with the bone structure part. if it weren't for everyone's different fat distribution, we would all either have hip dips or none at all.
- +1 y
Oh ok but bella hadid still have hip dips but it is not thst noticeable
- +1 y
First of all, the model I put in the photo has super thin thighs, so I don’t know why you’re being so rude about it, and it’s all muscle because she’s a model. Not to mention she’s 30. So... she doesn’t have hip dips hence why it looks like here thighs are more full. Regardless, girl in the photo you put is a skinny girl with hip dips, it’s almost impossible to be extremely skinny with round hips.
- +1 y
I love how I'm a pencil with dip dips reading this :)

Its not shallow. Someone who doesn't take care of themselves is also a major personality defect. Like idgaf if they look like a model but if they can't maintain a good weight it means they have self control issues or just dont care about themselves. Neither is attractive.

Being thin doesn't always mean healthy. Being fat always means unhealthy. 🤷♂️
- +1 y
Okay? But why’d you have to say “as long as you’re thin like the pics” why couldn’t you have said “as long as they’re healthy I’m happy” instead?
And not necessarily. Some people call skinny people fat still, even if they’re healthy. If you mean obesity, yes but there are conditions where women can’t lose or gain weight due to a disorder. - +1 y
