The architecture of a woman's body is interesting (and appealing).
If a woman is facing you, the widest part of her body is if you draw a line across at crotch level and measure from the outside of one thigh to the other. The tops of her thighs are soft, round and fat (in a good way) and taper dramatically from the wide tops down to her knees.

The shape of her inner thigh is appealing. It has undulating curves. But the best part is at the very top where it suddenly curves outward away from the center to form the gap. The muscle forms a bulge at the top.

Taking the way a woman's hips spread and blend with the tops of her outer thighs to form the widest part of her body, combined with the gap formed by the curve of her inner thighs, her legs look wide-set compared to a man's. They form what has been called a saddle shape.

I like thigh gap because I happen to love with the bulge at the top of her inner thigh. It's soft and chewable. Plus, there is what is at the center of that gap. The gap frames her fleshy labia, which form a W shape.
If not for a gap, her labia would be pressed together by her thighs.

I have a preference for thighs that are not too skinny or too thicc.

In the end, I don't know exactly why thigh gap is appealing, other than the fact that it is uniquely feminine. Women are built differently from men and men like the difference.

It's hard to explain why but I am one of the guys that loves thigh gap like you have pictured there.

Dont hate me I can't help what's attractive to me, I'm doing my best to explain why I like it without sounding like a pig.

Aside from the gap itself it usually comes along with other very appealing curves on a women, they usually have all these:

1 Nice firm little apple bottom butt, you know how you can clearly see where butt ends and ice thighs begin
2 ice rhights, gap girl usually has some big and shapley, yet firm thights, so she got great legs basiclly
3 the perveist sounding thing is how the gap looks from behind, her thighs kind of end in sexy dimples and you can see her "lady bulge".

I try not to stare at women despite how this sounds but when girls wear leggings it's hard not to notice, she's hot and I'm straight sorry.

Honestly, before it was popularized, I never made a point of noticing it. I guess it was a little appealing, but not significantly. And it's not something that I look for in a woman. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it, but it's not even close to something that I value highly.

However, my guess for the reason for its attractiveness is because it highlights the width of her hips, it highlights the sweet spot between her legs, it facilitates more of a sway when she walks, and it can show wide feminine hips while still not being overweight.

That's not to say women without a thigh gap are overweight, because the vast majority are not. But as a biological signal, a woman who has a thigh gap is almost never overweight.

That's just my guess though
