To me, stockings just seem like way too much effort for pretty much zero gain. I think stockings in general look terrible and don't have the warming or anti-chafing features of pantyhose, which makes them a purely aesthetic accessory (and a bad one at that).

Not on a hot day. I would rather not wear any except to some formal affair because it is cooler. I take it you are talking about garter supported stockings. But if it were panty hose you got to pull them down to go to the bathroom and then smooth them back down. It's a hassle. I don't know anyone who wears stockings/garters anymore except in porn, cam girls, prostitutes, or as a precursor to having sex.

I HATE hooking the bastard things (so much easier if someone else does, my head doesn’t easily fit between my buttcheeks to see what I’m doing) and they fall down so easily you are constantly pulling them up which risks snags.

I don't like wearing them at all, and the only reason I would wear them was if they drove a guy I liked wild. The reason I don't like wearing them is that they are very fiddly and annoying. They take forever to put on. Also, you have to buy them as part of set so they will look good with your bra and panties. One of these sets will typically set you back $140-160.
