Why do Desi girls put so much effort into making their feet look elaborate, if feet are supposed to have a negative connotation in Desi culture?

I'm by no means complaining. I wish every girl would put this much effort into her feet like Desi girls. I don't know why they don't. But I find this ironic though, because feet are considered dirty in Desi culture and feet worship is considered submissive. Indians even say when a person is sucking up to someone that they are "kissing their feet", which is the equivalent of "kissing their ass" in the West.

So I don't understand why they put so much effort into something that's supposed to have a negative connotation. Again, I'm certainly not complaining, just confused.
Maybe a South Asian person can explain this to me.

Indian culture is quite diverse when it comes to foot worship. Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that in many families (especially in the south) it is considered good form for young siblings to humbly attend to the feet of mature women. Young husbands are also often expected by their wives to perform this honorable foot service. Some grooms even kiss their bride's feet on their wedding day to show her the respect she deserves. Nevertheless, India remains largely patriarchal, and women have fewer rights in practice. The ritual of female foot worship therefore represents a just and meaningful compromise, as it requires at least a small portion of the male population to submit to the woman's authority. Since many women in India are still mistreated, I find this compensation more than fair. Therefore, I too have decided to submit to the ritual of foot worship. Working regularly in Mumbai as a programmer I luckily found a suitable housemaid from South India for my apartment who takes excellent care of my household. Out of gratitude, I regularly show her humble respect with foot washing, pedicure and giving gentle foot kisses on her toe nails after work on demand. I think it's right to have to submit to my housemaid in this way and fulfil certain services to her.

Whether my maid has sexy feet is in the eye of the beholder, but that's beside the point. She's a robustly built woman and somewhat older than me, and the latter is what prompted me to pay her these tributes. She also asked me to place her mules, which she wears during the day, on my nightstand in the evenings so that I would think of her when I went to bed and woke up in the morning. Even though she couldn't control it, she would still appreciate it if I knelt in front of her mules and kissed her toe prints, because she believes that I should show her mules the necessary respect also. There is no 1 concrete answer to this. a lot cultural things are at play. Specifically in tantrik astrology women's feet is place of planet venus and taking good care of feet ensures good posterity and wealth. But this is just 1 reason of why it's an integral part of our culture.
