Why do Desi girls put so much effort into making their feet look elaborate, if feet are supposed to have a negative connotation in Desi culture?

I'm by no means complaining. I wish every girl would put this much effort into her feet like Desi girls. I don't know why they don't. But I find this ironic though, because feet are considered dirty in Desi culture and feet worship is considered submissive. Indians even say when a person is sucking up to someone that they are "kissing their feet", which is the equivalent of "kissing their ass" in the West.

There is no 1 concrete answer to this. a lot cultural things are at play. Specifically in tantrik astrology women's feet is place of planet venus and taking good care of feet ensures good posterity and wealth. But this is just 1 reason of why it's an integral part of our culture.
