What is it with Indian girls and foot jewelry?

Usually from where I am, married women wear it. Though it varies from region to region

But sadly western culture is spreading as disease.

It's just jewelry. In foot anklets are most common, rings aren't very common but still a thing mostly very fashionable girls do. We got jewelry for the waist too!

I'd love to have a dainty anklet on one foot, preferably made of gold to (I already wear a delicate gold pendent on my neck), looks so pretty!

It has meaning, not just the look. Similar to the nose piercing, non Indians do it as a form of fashion.
