Diesel is a European brand, namely Italian, and it was established in the town of Molvena 41 years ago, in 1978.

It's a brand, I guess. The question is do you care about a name? Denim is denim for me. I own one pair of Levi's out of 6 pairs of jeans. I didn't buy them for the name, I just like how they fit (not 501s). The rest are from Marks and Spencer in the UK, Woolworths in South Africa and F&F - the Tesco clothing make. I bought them all because they are comfortable and none of them have lycra or elastane in.

Their jeans are quite expensive, so maybe... but depends how you define designer brand.

Every piece of clothing was designed before being produced, so every brand could be a designer brand.

Designer brands are brands which are far more expensive than normal brands you find on the high street and have a designer behind them.

Because like i said, every single jeans has a designer behind it. Someone who decides the fit and materials.

"Designer" is not a precise term. Diesel jeans are about $200/pair, similar to Calvin Klein, AG, Seven, and Paige.

Because there's a more or less continuous range of pricing for items of clothing. It's a long way and a lot of money from Diesel to Chanel, Gucci, YSL, and other high-end designer brands. My wife has a lot of designer clothing, but she gets it all from resale shops.

Depends on your area, in my region they don't quite carry the same clout as Gucci or Armani exchange, they are certainly a premium brand but wouldn't call them designer. Buying diesel over Gucci or Armani exchange, in my region is a lot like buying a Honda Civic Type R, or a Toyota Supra, (once gain varies by reigon, for example, in Mexico and Asia Honda is considered a luxury brand, whereas in the USA, Honda is considered an economy/bargain brand) very nice automobiles, however If I were buying one as a status symbol, I'd instead pay the extra few thousand and just go for a Tesla, or a Porsche. Diesel is like that. High quality, refined product, gets the job done, however not quite a status symbol at present.
