I think it depends on your age and maturity.

Young inexperienced men will typically try to shag anything (gradually leveling up) that let's them just to gain self esteem and sense of 'accomplishment' in a sexualized world.

Young inexperienced women are typically very picky with looks and money because of indoctrinated purity culture and desire for social status that comes with having an attractive mate.

I think as both genders mature, they start to focus on building relationships and Quality companionship over sexual/relational 'achievement.'

Men stop viewing women as beauty points and women stop chasing the top 5% of men (fuckboys).

It takes time, experience, and a willingness to foot the effort for something real.

Yeah. We can't control what is attractive to us but we can date people who ain't attractive to us. When i spend so much time with a person i like despite his unattractive looks i may fall in love with this person. I call this stockholm syndrom effect. It helps me to force myself to love people with nice personality although they are unattractive to me.

Generally the difference, between an unattractive male and an unattractive female is that - the unattractive male can work to make himself more valuable as he gets a better paying job and grows older.

Unattractive women can hardly do anything about their appearance outside of exercising, diet, skin bleaching, and surgery etc.
