What makes people celebrity?

What makes people celebrity?
Is it their beauty?
I heard that it is beauty that really makes those celebrities stars

I have two questions
I will give a scenerio. Though not real, but just assume

There are two ladies, Joy and Grace. Joy is very attractive and has a good voice.
Grace is average looking, but her voice is better than Joy's voice ×3.

1. According to your own opinion, which one do you think will be celebrated more

2. Which one would you love more? Be sincere

I think it depends. Some people become famous for their looks, others for their talent, and some for their personal drama (i. e. reality TV stars). Some are a combination.

I do think it's possible for an average looking (or even below average looking), yet talented person, to become famous. There are actually several who have. If you look at pictures of celebrities without makeup, many of them look like ordinary everyday people.

I don't really follow celebrities, so I'm not sure who I'd love more, but I would probably pay attention to the one whose music I liked better.

You become a celebrity by being recognized by the public and the attention given to you by mass media. It’s mostly irrespective of your physical looks but mostly on your career (which is in the public eye, e. g. sports, films, music, fashion, politics etc) and or financial status.

Ok, but you will notice that most celebrities are hot. Which makes it confusing for me as to why they are actually being loved by the public

Also, I heard that they don't allow non attractive people or ugly people into the media irrespective of their talent

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, whoever you might consider ugly doesn’t necessarily reflect the same to another person. Am not talking about the media as a media personality or career wise. Yes, it’s true, they take “whatever” they consider to be attractive on TV, fashion or in movie roles - (though an “ugly” person also qualifies depending with the role) but, you don’t need to be attractive to be in sports or music for example.
