Cheryl Cole as they second most beautiful woman of the 20th century?

I just saw an older survey that had readers place Cheryl Cole in second place on a “World’s most beautiful woman of the 20th century” list, coming in just after Audrey Hepburn and ahead of hundreds of gorgeous candidates and classical beauties.
I am not saying that Cheryl is not pretty, but she is good looking in the cookie cutter way Shania Twain was, not really fit to grace almost the top of a list compiled of the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Halle Berry or even Angelina Jolie. She doesn’t have that singular, timeless beauty that is difficult to replicate with plastic surgery, straightened teeth or makeup. When I first saw her I thought she was Shania and forgot any distinctions on her face almost immediately. She seems like the standard basic pretty, but doesn’t even come close to someone like Audrey Hepburn. Why is she up that high? The survey was British, so was it a British bias towards her?

I completely agree with you. She is a pretty woman, but doesn't even make my top 200 for the 20th century!! In fact, had you not mentioned her name, I wouldn't have even thought of her. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or beer holder as the case may be!), but here's one of my most beautiful women choices:

Kate Beckinsale is definitely a different league than Cheryl Crow! I remember seeing her for the first time in a obscure movie called Haunted and I had to go stalk more pictures online. She is very gorgeous and memorable.

Yeah, when I saw her I was like, this HAS to be some kind of joke. She's at beat average. I've seen girls on the street that are more beautiful than her.

Yes. I was super baffled by this survey. I do wonder if it is a British thing, as I’ve seen other articles now that echo our sentiments. Audrey Hepburn is someone I’d expect on the list - I would go as far as giving her the number one slot, although it is subjective and I do understand preferences for another candidate. But not Cheryl Cole. No. No. No.

Yup, I only knew because I lived in Europe, but I’d all but forgotten her by the time I saw this survey. Shania Twain clone with puffy hair was pretty much all that came to mind.

There is a Stephen King movie called Thinner with Kari Wurher - she made me think the same Shania Twain thing the way her makeup and hair was done (I’d show you a pic if I had higher XP) There are probably dozens who fit that bill.

Though I would give Audrey Hepburn a big nod because she was enigmatic AND a seemingly good person. Not all 'celebrities' can say that. And beauty is more than skin deep.

I agree with you about rating people, even though I do like looking at beautiful faces and seek out such lists so that I can see photos. Lol. I do think it’s arbitrary in many cases, and based on personal preference - it also doesn’t apply to the real world where personality plays a huge role. With beautiful celebrities I only see their faces and don’t have any first hand experience, so I am more superficial? Audrey has both the looks and the screen presence (all I can attest to) that mesmerize me and compel me to look at her. Cheryl Cole is pretty and attractive, yes, but while I have caught myself watching/googling a number of the people on this list due to their shocking level of beauty, she was not one of them.

I agree with all that.
Numbers = bad.
But now that I think about it, I did collect fashion magazines when I was in my late teens and a bit beyond. I would carefully razer out my favourite photography and fashion and sometimes models, and collage them on my bdrm wall. Beauty is nice. Knowing it's not all, or highest priority, is an important distinction, but appreciation is alright.
These magazine/online aggregate sites are really just trend-posters. It says who's popular in today's zeitgeist.
I vaguely know Cheryl's name, though I don't know her. She died? And was on X Factor? Anyway, doesn't matter.

Yup to all of that. Cheryl is a British pop singer but there is probably plenty I don’t know about her and don’t really care either. I had pictures of Audrey on my wall in my teens and early 20s! Lol. I would print them from my dads computer and make a collage just like you.
